Susan Vieira, Community Liaison

Susan is a middle Tennessee native, having grown up in Nashville. Following her graduation from the Donelson Christian Academy, she attended the University of Tennessee where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Therapeutic Recreation. Susan practiced as a Recreational Therapist at the Parthenon Pavilion in Nashville for 6 years. She then moved to Louisville, Kentucky, where she was the Activity Director at Four Courts Senior Center, a skilled nursing and assisted living facility. 

Susan and her husband Scott moved from Kentucky to Knoxville in 2003, and she continued her work with older adults and the agencies that provide care for them through her work in community outreach and community relations. Susan serves on the boards of the Senior Information and Referral Service, Caring Hearts and Concord Adult Day Enrichment Services. She has also been an active volunteer for Alzheimer’s Tennessee and the Office on Aging.  Susan is a Certified Dementia Practitioner by the National Council for Certified Dementia Practitioners. She is also the 2020 Snowflake Ball Queen, raising awareness and funds to support the Senior Companion Program.

Susan and Scott have a son, Harrison. In her spare time, she enjoys her two Laboradoodles, Knox and Ribbie. She also enjoys working out and watching her son play baseball.
