Gabrielle Blake, LCSW, Elder Care Coordinator with the firm will take part in the Expert Panel at Hospice Foundation of America’s 26th Annual Living With Grief® Program Aging America: Coping with Loss, Dying, and Death in Later Life
How can mental health professionals, healthcare providers, clergy, bereavement counselors, and the wider community support the growing number of aging Americans through their losses and healthcare challenges in later life?
America is aging at a rapid rate with 10,000 people in the U.S. turning 65 every day. Medicare is expected to include 80 million enrollees by 2040. The vast majority of this growing population will likely face multiple losses—spouse, partner, independence, identity—and complex medical care needs.
Aging America panelists will integrate their expertise to deliver an in-depth discussion on innovative programs and new approaches to support older adults relative to:
barriers that individuals may face in accessing care,
grief experiences and support needs specific to older adults,
programs designed to end the “conveyor belt” of runaway care in the last months of life, and ethical issues that may arise.
There will be a post-program expert panel discussion.
