At the August 9th meeting of the Knoxville chapter of the Tennessee Society of Healthcare Social Workers we will be collecting gently used vases, Mason jars, and mugs to benefit Random Acts of Flowers. Jon us for the meeting to learn about “The Healing Power of Flowers–Reducing Senior Isolation” with guest speaker Larsen Jay, CEO of Random Acts of Flowers.
Larsen Jay believes the giving of flowers is a powerful, universal gesture that transcends race, religion, income levels, languages and disabilities. After a near-fatal accident a decade ago, Larsen abandoned his successful career in the film & television industry and founded Random Acts of Flowers, a nonprofit organization that improves emotional health and well-being of individuals in healthcare facilities by delivering recycled flowers, encouragement and personal moments of kindness.
From dreaming of the idea while delivering flowers from his wheelchair to serving almost 500,000 people nationwide, Larsen will present his journey of recovery, creation of a new and unique industry, and share stories of how the power of human connection during a vulnerable time can change lives forever.
A two-time graduate of the University of Tennessee, Larsen Jay has had a diverse background in business, philanthropy and civic engagement.
This event is held at Morning Pointe of Knoxville, and they will have lunch available for $5, or you are welcome to bring a bag lunch. Lunch starts at 11:30am and the educational presentation will begin at noon.
